I ran across this in The Best of People and Food Cookbook, published in 1981. I’ve yet to try it, but the ingredients are different from anything I’ve ever seen, so it sounds yummy.
Combine in a bowl:
3/4 C flour
1 T baking powder
1/4 C Ovaltine
1/4 C sugar
In a saucepan or microwave, heat the following until the margarine or butter melts:
1 T margarine or butter
1 T molasses
2/3 C milk
Add the liquid ingredients to the dry ones, stir together quickly, and put into a large greased loaf pan, or 2 medium loaf pans. Bake in a moderate oven for about an hour.
