1 lb 2 oz fylo pastry
2 C almonds, pounded into crumbs
1 1/2 C butter
1/2 C sugar
1 T cinnamon
Syrup: 3 C sugar, 1 C honey, 2 C water, cinnamon stick, 1 t cloves
In a bowl, mix almonds, sugar, and cinnamon. Butter a small pan and lay a few sheets of fylo, brushing each with butter. Spread almond mixture over fylo. Make successive layers of fylo and almond mixtuure. Finish with thicker (6-8) layer of fylo, brushing each with butter. With a sharp knife, cut into diamond shaped pieces. Bake in med. oven 1 hour.
Boil syrup 15 minutes. Remove baklava from oven, let cool. Pour boiling syrup over it. Recut.
