1 C sour milk
1 egg
1/4 C oil
1 C bran
1 C whole wheat flour
1/2 C brown sugar
1/2 t salt
1 t baking soda
Blend the milk, egg, and oil in one bowl. In another bowl, mix the remaining ingredients. Combine the two and pour into a greased and floured 8-inch square pan (you can also use a 12-part muffin tin). Bake for 25-35 minutes at 350 F.
To cook on top of the stove, use a heavy pan with a lid, and set the baking pan on a cake rack.
Serve with jam and butter.
