According to the cookbook From the Lands of Figs and Olives, by Habeeb Salloum and James Peters, this is one of the five components of every main meal in the Sudan.
1/2 C lemon juice
2 T olive oil
4 cloves garlic, crushed
1 T ground chili pepper
1/2 t pepper
Salt to taste
Mix all ingredients thoroughly, then place in tiny dishes and serve to each person with their entree.
