Tropical kiwi banana sauce

2 ripe kiwis
2 ripe bananas
2 T butter
Pinch salt
3 T sugar
1/2 C orange juice
1/2 C milk or half and half
(for a really decadent version, leave out the orange juice, and use 1 C half and half and a splash of rum)

Peel and slice the bananas. Peel the kiwis, cut in quarters, then slice them.

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter. Saute the bananas until they break down and lose their shape. Add the sugar, then cook and stir for a couple of minutes until it is glossy and almost smooth. Stir in the kiwis, cook and stir until they are heated through and the sauce is quite thick. Add the salt, juice or nectar, and milk or cream, and heat through. Serve warm over waffles, pancakes, or rice pudding. Or cool and serve with ice cream.
